NY Times, “Pineapple & Ham”!

It all started with, a “connection to glazed ham?” I had the most delightful phone call with Eric Kim from NYT, and yes most of the conversation was about FRUIT! Specifically, pineapple!

A little nervous especially not knowing what this phone call would entail, but that nervousness went away as Eric had so much Aloha that it seemed like a friend I had spoken to before. The topic about Pineapple included the talk about its history in Hawaii, my own history of pineapple, glazes made out of pineapple, and the controversial pineapple and ham pizza. Eric Kim mentioned that he cannot promise I will make it into the piece, what piece? A piece of that pizza we cravingly spoke about? Apart of the piece in the New York Times!

Mahalo to Eric Kim for our phone call that rendered all about fruit, and imaginably leaving my mind in awe thinking how a scoured ham looks like the beautiful pattern of a pineapple. Canʻt wait for you to come to the islands and give you a taste of that Smoked Ham and Pineapple Glaze we cravingly spoke about.
